(VEN) - The Information Technology and Statistic Center under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development estimated that Vietnam sold abroad about 700,000 tonnes of rice for US$295 million this August increasing the total amount of rice exports in the first eight months of this year to five million tonnes worth US$2.4 billion, an 8.2 percent increase in volume and a 12.8 percent increase in revenue when compared with the same months last year.
The General Department of Customs said that rice exports soared to a record high 870,900 tonnes worth US$365.3 million this July, increasing 62 percent in volume and 58 percent in revenue against the previous month, and increasing 81 percent in volume and 85 percent in revenue against the same time last year. Rice exports in the first seven months of this year were 4.3 million tonnes (as much as in the same months last year) and US$2.09 billion (increasing six percent)./.
