(VEN) - On September 7, 2010, Ford Vietnam organized a solemn ceremony to celebrate the 15th anniversary of its establishment. Also at this ceremony, the company received the Third-class Labor Medal presented by the Vietnamese State for its remarkable achievements and considerable contributions to socioeconomic development in Hai Duong Province and Vietnam as a whole.
Established in 1995 with total investment capital of US$102 million, Ford Vietnam is a joint venture between the Ford Motor Corporation (USA) and the Diesel Song Cong Company (Vietnam). In terms of investment capital, this is the largest joint-venture auto manufacturer and one of the biggest investment projects of the US in Vietnam. The assembly plant of Ford Vietnam is based in Hai Duong Province, which came into operation in 1997. Ford Vietnam has developed continuously and become one of the leading auto manufacturers in Vietnam.
The first products of Ford Vietnam include Ford Trader (semi-truck) and Ford Laser (sedan). Other products of Ford Vietnam include Ford Everest, Ford Escape, Ford Focus, Ford Ranger, Ford Transit and Ford Mondeo. In 1998, Ford Vietnam sold 365 cars and sales increased to 8,286 cars in 2009.
Another product, Ford Fiesta (small-sized compact car) will be launched soon as part of Ford Vietnam's long-term commitment to bring customers in Vietnam the best products.
In 2009, Ford Vietnam invested US$10 million in modernizing the assembly line at the Hai Duong-based plant, increasing its capacity by 25 percent. Ford Vietnam is the first auto manufacturer in Vietnam that has won four certifications in terms of quality management and environmental protection, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, QS9000 and ISO TS 16949.
Ford Vietnam has expanded its sales agent and service center network. In 1997 it had only three agents but now it has 24 agents/branches nationwide.
"Customer satisfaction is our top priority. Therefore, we have focused investment in modernizing the assembly line to increase the capacity. We have launched new car models and increased assistance for our agents through programs such as Quality Care and New Sales and Distribution Process," said Michael Pease, the general director of Ford Vietnam.
In the past 15 years, Ford Vietnam has participated actively in many community activities, implementing its commitment to contribute to improving the environment and community life. Thus far, the company has donated more than VND5 billion to 70 environmental protection and cultural heritage conservation projects./.
