(VEN) - Since 2005 Lang Giang district of Bac Giang province has mobilized VND159.5 billion of investment capital for poverty reduction programs.
Of the total, VND152.9 billion comes from the central budget and the rest from the local budgets, Vietnam Fatherland Front members and other organizations. As a result of poverty reduction programs, the number of poor households in Lang Giang district has decreased from 11,262 (23.2 percent) in 2005 to 3,278 (6.35 percent) in late 2009, meaning an annual decrease of 4.2 percent, 1.2 percent above the target./.
