Promoting Compact Lamp Use
Cập nhật lúc:  14:15 11/08/2010

(VEN) - Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) recently launched a program to encourage the poor in Vinh Long province to change one million incandescent lamps for energy efficient compact lamps. This was part of a program EVN has been carrying out since 2002 to promote the use of high efficiency lamps and raise people's awareness about energy conservation measures.

The program has been underway in southwestern and some southeastern provinces and applicable to poor households using no more than 100kWh per month. Each household can exchange incandescent lamps with sockets for at most two 18W compact lamps. Around 800,000 needy households are expected to benefit from the program. The program’s total investment capital is around VND31.1 billion.
A survey by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2009 showed that around 20 million incandescent lamps are currently used by Vietnamese families, mainly low-income families, averaging 1.14 lamps per family./.
