La Vie Sails on Still Waters
Updated at:  10:24 10/03/2010

(VEN) - John Harris, the CEO of Nestle Waters paid a special visit to the La Vie Factory in Long An province to congratulate the success La Vie (a brand name of Nestle Waters) has had in the last 18 years in Vietnam. His visit was also to confirm the company's commitment to continue financial/manpower investment cooperation and ensure international standards for La Vie in Vietnam. Vietnam Economic News' reporter Kim Chi spoke with John Harris, regarding the market in Vietnam.

What major changes do you see in Vietnam in recent years?
This has been my first visit to Vietnam since I was appointed to be the CEO of Nestle Waters. I was really impressed by the pace of development and changes in the market in Vietnam. Very few countries could make such comprehensive and positive changes over just a decade. National stability, development prospects and the population - all these factors have proved that we were right to come back to Vietnam in 1994 and to be here right now.
What about the drinking water market?
I think that there are segments of the drinking water market in Vietnam. The quality of bottled water is still questionable since small-sized producers do not have sufficient knowledge and technology for production following the Vietnamese quality standard. This explains why Vietnamese consumers were worried to see a number of water bottling factories contaminated with bacteria.
What do you want to say to Vietnamese consumers?
I believe that we have strong business foundations and that La Vie will continue to grow to become one of few symbolic names that have won trust among Vietnamese consumers. We will try our best to deserve customer's trust and we commit ourselves to place the greatest importance on the quality of La Vie, as well as all Nestle products, for consumer safety and health. As for La Vie in Vietnam alone, we will always provide support through the latest technology and world-class quality standard to create the best products for Vietnamese consumers./.
