(VEN) - Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and Finland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the Energy and Environment Partnership Mekong (EEP Mekong) on August 17 in Hanoi.
EEP, which costs 7.9 million euro funded by Finland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Northern Development Foundation (NDF), is to help increase the abilities to access renewable energy (RE) services and renewable energy technology (RET) in rural areas, boost investment in RE and RET, improve the understanding and tools to support the development of RE projects, build a legal framework for the development of RE and RET contributing to the effective use of energy sources. Minorities and rural poor women will benefit from the program.
EEP will provide funds to ensure the environment/renewable energy activities are up to standard. Domestic and foreign companies, initiatives, research centers and consultant companies can apply for sponsorship from the foundation.
Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand are currently participating in the program./.
