(VEN) - 1. Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the tradition of the Vietnamese trade and industry sector and receiving a First Medal of Independence from the Party and the State.
2. For the first time ever, the import-export turnover exceeded US$200 billion, of which exports increased 33.3 percent and trade deficit remained at less than 10 percent, the lowest for the past five years, since Vietnam became a member of the World Trade Organization.
3. Successful preparation was made for the Prime Minister of Vietnam and Prime Minister of Japan to sign an agreement on three important contents of cooperation during the official visit to Japan from the end of October to early November, 2011 by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. These are: Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant 2, Rare Earth Project in Lai Chau Province, and Cooperation in Human Movement.
4. Son La Hydro Power Plant 3 runs launched turbines 2, 3 and 4 in April, August and December, 2011 and to date it has transmitted the power of five billion kWh into the national grid, an important contribution to ensure sufficient electricity in 2011 and the next years. At the same time, the sector has started the construction of the Lai Chau Hydropower Plant - the works of national importance in January, 2011.
5. Good coordination with other agencies and organizations to put into practice a consumption campaign entitled, "Buy Vietnamese Goods", a contribution to the total circulation of retail goods and consumer services revenue of an estimated VND2,004.4 trillion, an increase of 24.2 percent over 2010.
6. The Ministry of Industry and Trade was awarded with a Third-class Labor Medal for achievement in innovation and restructure of enterprises.
7. Launching the jackups oilrig 90 meters of water depth, first time ever manufactured by PetroVietnam, and made in Vietnam.
8. Participating in negotiations on a Trans Pacific Economic Partnership Agreement with a position as an official member; Completing negotiations and signing a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Chile.
9. For the first time, the sector held a Trade Counselors Conference which was combined with the Diplomatic Conference 27 after the Law on Representative Offices of Vietnam in Foreign Countries took effect.
